How Do I Vote Early?

There are two ways for a registered voter to vote early prior to Election Day. You may vote in-person at the Butler County Board of Elections or you may apply for an absentee ballot and vote by mail.

If you vote in-person you must go to the Butler County Board of Elections, 1802 Princeton Rd., Hamilton, OH 45011 during early voting hours. Voter registration closes on Tuesday, February 18 at the close of business. Business hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

In-Person Early Voting

Week One of Early Voting (February 19 – February 21)
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on each weekday (Wednesday through Friday)

Week Two of Early Voting (February 24 – February 28)
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on each weekday (Monday through Friday)

Week Three of Early Voting (March 2 – March 7)
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on each weekday (Monday through Friday)
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7

Week Four of Early Voting (March 9 – March 15)
8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on each weekday (Monday through Friday)
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14
1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15

Early Voting on Monday before Election Day (March 16)
8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

What ID do I need to bring to vote early?

You will need to bring your ID and a Board of Elections staff member will view your ID and ask you to verify your name and current address. Refer to the Voter Identification Guide for valid forms of ID for voting in Ohio and remember to have it with you when you vote early.

How do I vote by mail?

Complete, print and sign the Absentee Ballot Application form (English) and return it by mail or in-person to:

The Board of Elections will mail your ballot and identification envelope to you after early voting opens (29 days before Election Day). They will include instructions for returning your voted ballot by mail, or use the drop box located outside the Board of Elections office.

Deadline to submit a Vote by Mail Application:
Applications must be received at the Board of Elections by noon on the Saturday immediately preceding an election.

Deadline for the March 17th Primary Election: Noon on Saturday, March 14, 2019.

Deadline to return your Vote by Mail Ballot:
Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked by the Monday before Election Day for all elections.

Or you may return your ballot in person to the Board of Elections office by 7:30 pm on Election Day.

Do not return your voted ballot to your polling place on Election Day.

Deadline for the March 17 Primary Election: Postmarked by Monday, March 17, 2020, or returned to the Board of Elections office by 7:30 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
