Butler County Democrats to name replacement County Auditor Candidate

New Central Committee will meet on June 2nd @ 6 p.m.

(HAMILTON)- Upon learning that David Spurrier, the Democratic nominee for County Auditor, notified the Butler County Board of Elections today of his withdrawal from the race, the Butler County Democratic Party announces that it will use its upcoming reorganization meeting already scheduled for Thursday, June 2nd at 6 p.m. at 1802 Princeton Rd., Hamilton, Ohio 45011 to certify a replacement candidate under Ohio law.

“The Butler County Democratic Party is committed to giving voters a real choice this fall in the County Auditor’s race.  We look forward to introducing our candidate at next Thursday’s reorganization meeting as we campaign to restore public confidence in county government against a growing cloud of corruption allegations,” said outgoing Butler County Democratic Party Executive Committee Chair Brian Hester.

Current Central Committee Chair Mariann Penska has added the certification of a replacement County Auditor candidate to the agenda of the party’s upcoming reorganization meeting and notified the newly elected Central Committee members they will be electing a replacement candidate.  The election to certify a new candidate will occur after the recently elected County Central Committee members are sworn in and elect the officers of the Central Committee but before it elects new officers for the Executive Committee.  The meeting is open to the public and press.

After its June 2nd meeting, the party will then file its certification of the replacement candidate with the Butler County Board of Elections, which will then list that candidate on the November 8, 2022 General Election ballot. (See, R.C. 3513.31(A)).
