Accountability for Promises Made: We’re Watching and Holding Republicans Responsible

As we look ahead to the upcoming inauguration, we are closely watching how President-elect Donald Trump, Vice President-elect JD Vance, and the entire Republican Party handle the promises they made to the American people. Our expectations are clear —  the Republican Party must deliver on the commitments they made, or face accountability.

Here’s a reminder of the promises they made during the campaign:

  1. Gas under $2.00
  2. Lower grocery prices
  3. A 50% drop in car insurance
  4. Rent reductions from landlords
  5. A decrease in home prices
  6. Sub 3% interest rates
  7. No tax on Social Security
  8. No tax on tips or overtime
  9. Ending the war in Ukraine by January
  10. Peace in Israel
  11. Lower taxes for families making under $200,000

Let’s be clear: these promises were made by Trump and Vance directly to the American people, and with Republicans controlling the House, Senate, and Supreme Court, there is no one left to blame if they fail to deliver. The time for excuses is over—the American people are watching, and we will hold them accountable for their commitments.

While Republicans claim to represent the working class, it is important to recognize the real progress made under the Biden/Harris administration. Job growth has surged, unemployment is at record lows, and the bipartisan infrastructure bill is improving communities and creating jobs across the country. On the global stage, President Biden has already secured a ceasefire deal in Israel, addressing one of Trump/Vance’s major promises.

But there’s another side to this: Republicans are already considering policies that would hurt everyday Americans. They want to slash your school budgets, raise your grocery costs, cut federal food assistance, restrict healthcare access for vulnerable populations, and hike your energy bills—all to pay for billionaire tax cuts.

These proposed policies would hurt hardworking families across the country. They are looking to cut programs that help students, seniors, and low-income families just to benefit the wealthiest Americans. It’s clear that while Republicans made promises to help the working class, their actions show they are more interested in helping billionaires than regular folks.

In Middletown, Ohio, where JD Vance grew up, nearly 30% of the population lives in poverty. The people there, like so many across the country, are tired of promises that don’t lead to real change. They need lower costs, better jobs, and policies that actually support working families, not the richest 1%.

As we move forward, we will be closely watching how Republicans work to fulfill their promises, and we will hold them accountable at every level of government. The stakes are high for working families across the country. The Trump/Vance administration and Republican Party have a responsibility to show they can deliver on their word, and prove they are working for everyday Americans—not just the billionaires.
