What an incredible Election Night in Butler County!
All nine of our Democratic incumbents held their seats, we kept every single one of the twelve Democratic-held offices on the ballot, and we picked up seven more across the county. That’s 20 wins out of 29 races — nearly 70% success — and a clear sign that our years of hard work are paying off.
And the headline everyone’s talking about:
👉 A major flip in West Chester, where veterinarian and first-time candidate Amanda Ortiz ran a powerful grassroots campaign and defeated a long-time Republican trustee.
West Chester is the largest township in Ohio and part of the Butler-Warren corridor, the state’s fastest-growing population area — a true bellwether for regional trends. This win wasn’t just big — it was historic.
Across the county, we saw strong Democratic gains and new momentum in nearly every community. Even in races we didn’t win, our candidates closed the gap, built visibility, and energized voters for the future. Voter turnout reached 28.4%, nearly 50% higher than in 2021 — a direct result of the organizing strength we’ve built together.
These victories didn’t happen overnight. They’re the product of years of steady work through our Battleground Butler County initiative — growing grassroots infrastructure, recruiting and training candidates, and ensuring every voter in every neighborhood has a choice.
And we’re not stopping here. Right now, we’re developing our countywide neighborhood team program to take this momentum to the next level — empowering volunteers to organize locally, connect year-round with voters, and build lasting Democratic power block by block.
This is what teamwork looks like. Every conversation, every door knock, every donation, and every late night of planning mattered — and it showed.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in what’s possible here in Butler County. We’re showing the state — and the country — what happens when we run everywhere, run hard, and never give up.
With gratitude and determination,
Kathy Wyenandt
Chair, Butler County Democratic Party
