If you haven’t had enough of politics, we have something just for you. Whether we’re ready or not, the 2021 campaign season will soon be upon us. The November 2, 2021 General Election is within sight and it’s time for you or anyone you know who has thought about running for office to begin to research the possibilities.
The first step is check out which offices are going to be on the ballot in November. You will find this information at the Butler County Board of Elections website or simply click on this 2021 Candidate link.
Your next step is to speak with someone who has experience in running for office or managing a campaign to see whether or not it is something that might interest you. Contact our BCDP Executive Chair, Brian Hester, or Central Chair, Mariann Penske, and they will be able to answer any of your questions. You won’t be exploring this on your own because the BCDP will be conducting Candidate Training Workshops in the next few months. The Workshop is for declared candidates, anyone interested in learning more about running for office, or managing a campaign. The instructors will take participants step-by-step through the process from determining whether or not being a candidate is right for you, registering as a candidate, organizing and running a campaign, and everything in between.
Three virtual training sessions are coming up in February, where there will be a review of which offices are up for election, requirements to run for office and a simple overview of basic first steps to become a candidate this year. Sessions available are:
- Sunday, February 7, 4:00-5:00 pm
- Tuesday, February 9, 6:30-7:30 pm
- Wednesday, February 10, 6:30-7:30 pm
